Well on the second day of winter NAMM 2010 Direct Pro Audio had a very full day. Highlights included a stop at the DB technologies booth were several new self powered speakers of the Opera Digital line were shown. Soon to hit the streets, the self powered speakers will find a home with a rock and rollers mobile DJs and small to medium-sized venues. Featuring a brand-new DigiPro class D amplifier section, the new Opera Digital active speakers feature incredible SPL levels. All of the new Opera Digital active speakers feature XLR, and quarter inch inputs that are both Mic/line switchable and feature XLR parallel out with onboard DSP. These new active speakers will be shipping shortly so keep in contact with Direct Pro Audio.
After our visit with DB technologies we headed over to the American DJ booth. As you would expect tons of new LED fixtures were on display in both DMX and standalone variants. Perfect for bowling centers, nightclubs, bars, taverns, and mobile DJs these lights are both affordable and easy-to-use. Highlights include the Fusion FX Tri Bar, and the new Jellyfish among others. The new jellyfish is among my personal favorites, think of it as a sweeper with a see-through extrusion. Also on display, was the Galaxian Royale. The American DJ Galaxian Royale is a new laser effect with both green and purple lasers. For those of you looking for an old-school solution to your mobile lighting needs, the ComScan LED system was also displayed. The ComScan LED system features two LED scanners and a UC3 controller and XLR cable to make all the necessary connections.
Next was a visit to the Peavey booth. As you would expect, Peavy has some fantastic products coming to market in 2010. Chief among these is the IPR series of amps weighing in at less than 10 pounds. The new IPR series of amplifiers is expected to be shipping by the end of March. As far as speakers are concerned, Peavy showed two new lines of speakers. The new EU series was on display, as well as the new Impulse series with ribbon high-frequency devices.
